Apple App Store (dubbed the last greatest capitalism experiment) has been a terrific success. More than 500m applications, from games to interactive travel guides, have been downloaded.

Without surprise more companies are roolling out their App Store:

By August its customers will be able to personalize their phones with a range of downloadable utilities, tools, and games over multiple platforms

• Vodafone App Store. Just announced.

• Orange Application Store which is already available for selected handsets in France, although the official release will happen before the year is over in France first, followed by the UK.

• Windows Marketplace (Microsoft)
• App World (RIM's BlackBerry)

Only a few of shops will thrive. Without doubt Java Store will be one of these. You need more than a closed platform (you knew that Ericsson phone

have power sockets incompatibles with their own previous models?) and a copy and paste in order to be successful.

IDEOLOGIA

Imagine an authentication scheme without textual passwords. Welcome to IDEOLOGIA, a system that allows the user to log on different websites with spatial based gestures.

Based on the previous works KAOS and ILLITERATE.

User instructions:

In order to be directed to the NSA website (www.nsa.gov) the user needs to invoke the following sequence of gestures:

1. NORTH

2. NORTH

3. NORTHEAST

After the sequence is "typed" IDEOLOGIA will open a browser with the URL www.nsa.gov. No button or any usual user interface has to be pressed, just drag&drop gestures.

Illiterate

Imagine a computer environment without buttons o textboxes. Welcome to ILLITERATE.

Based on the previous work Kaos, ILLITERATE is a learning tool for disabled people.

Every word is presented to the user with a twist: a visual representation of the 'kaos level' of the word presented.

While the user advances on the typing work, the initial order is restored.

KAOS, the roadmap

My name is Joan and I am a lawyer [*].

mmm.. so, how can a lawyer write JavaFX applications?

Well, thats a wrong question, man. Who invented XML? A lawyer. Who was the best number theorist mathematician? Fermat, a french lawyer. Who.... well, that's enough for today.

Let's talk about Kaos, a Java FX application. Java FX is an interesting beast, a DSL with very interisting skills. One is closures. If you know Smalltalk o Newspeak you know waht I mean.

Kaos is a litte prototype or proof of concept. Also is a engine that will be used in posterior applications: Illiterate and IDEOLOGIA.

Playing Kaos is very easy. Your goal is to restore the initial order. In order to do so, you can drag&drop the scrambled pieces of the initial image.

Playing Kaos you will feel like Sisyphus a greek king punished in Tartarus by being cursed to roll a huge boulder up a hill, only to watch it roll back down, and to repeat this throughout eternity.

Els articles corresponets al periode 1851-1922 son de domini públic i de lliure accès.

També es interessant el blog on els tècnics encarregats del projecte expliquen com ho van fer.

Acabar amb el SPAM de SMS

Si teniu la desgracia de tenir un contracte amb Movistar sabreu el que son els SMS no sol·licitats (és a dir SPAM).

Com impedir que ens arribin aquests SMS no sol·licitats? Doncs no es fàcil precisament però ho podeu intentar així:

Donar-se de baixa dels SMS no sol·licitats de Movistar

Primer ens armem de paciència ;)

Bé, haurem de anar a la pàgina de Protecció de Dades de Movistar :

Aquí ens demanan el numero de movil i la clau d'acces. Per obtenir la clau d'acces (que envien mitjançant un SMS al nostre terminal) hem de clicar l'enllaç pulse aqui.

Al prémer aquest enllaç en apareixerà aquesta finestra:

Ufff! Ja queda poc ! Aquí ens demanen el nostre numero de mòvil y el ICC, per obtenir el ICC hem de trucar al numero:

*#102#

No oblideu el primer asterisc. Aquesta trucada ens tornarà al mòvil el nombre ICC, es un nombre de 5 xifres. Ara ja podem omplir els dos camps (el numero de mòvil i el ICC) i podem prémer el botó ACEPTAR.

Per fi hem arribat ! A la següent pantalla marquem editar, desprès NO CONSIENTO a tot i guardem el canvis. Ja està !

Experiència 827

 La millor forma d'experimentar 827 es agafar el bus 827 a la parada de l'Avinguda de Logroño. Perquè?  Doncs despres d'atravessar la ciutat (Campo de las Naciones, Barajas) el bus s'endinsa en un terreny diferent.

Totalment diferent. Després de la rotonda davant de les pistes de la T4 desapareixen els cotxes. El recorregut s'endinsa per camins paral·lels a altres vies principals com la M-12. Lliure doncs del tràfic urbà, una sensació de llibertat ho envolta tot. No sols el trafic desapareix, també les limitacions, ens espera un recorregut d'uns 5 kilometres fins Alcobendas, on ens tornarem a trobar amb altres vehicles, el conductor apreta amb força l'accelerador i els passatgers ens agafem fort als seients. 

  Durant el vints i escassos minuts que dura el viatge, noves idees (normalment atrapades, silenciades i oblidades) sorgeixen amb una claredad increible.  A vegades el soroll del motor diesesl del bus s'afegeix als motors McDonald Douglas de la zona de parking del T4. No importa. Res no interfereix la claretat del pensament, en linia amb la velocitat exagerada (sovint passa dels 100 km per hora) que agafa l'autobus. 

UOC: Exportar el calendari semestral a Google Calendar

Aquest semestre es pot exportar el calendari semestral a Google Calendar. No cal dir que aquesta possibilitat es molt util. Google Calendar - a part d'un interface molt mes intuitiu es pot consultar off-line. A més les recerques son molt mes facils.

Per exportar el calendari:

 Calendari Semestral >> Exportar calendari

Això crearà un fitxer al nostre ordinador que Google Calendar pot importar. I ja està ! Ja tenim el calendari de totes les asignatures de la UOC a GCalendar !

A Google search of a distinctly retro kind

Un article molt interessant sobre una acció de Google relacionada amb IP (Intel·lectual Property, aquest terme té l'equivalent en el nostre dret amb ¨Drets d'autor en sentit ampli", es a dir "dret d'autor en sentit estricte" + "patents industrials). Però tornant a l'article: 

As part of the class-action settlement, Google will pay $125 million to create a system under which customers will be charged for reading a copyrighted book, with the copyright holder and Google both taking percentages; copyright holders will also receive a flat fee for the initial scanning, and can opt out of the whole system if they wish. But first they must be found.

Traduïm:

Com a part de l'acord Google pagará  125 milions dòlars per crear un sistema amb el què els usuaris pagaran per llegir material protegit per drets d'autor, tant l'autor com Google tindran un percentatge; els autors reberan una quantitat fixe per l'escanejat inicial, i poden desestimar aquest sistema si així ho desitgen. Però primer (els autors) s'han de trobar.
